The first Women's Conference was initiated in the fall of 1989 by Katherine Lankford, who was National Ladies President. Approximately 200 women attended the weekend conference, which was then called "Women's Retreat." Rev. Youdister Binda did all the registrations, working manually throughout the night. It was held in Muskoka in a camp meeting style. By all accounts it was great!

Jackie Smith was the Keynote Speaker for the weekend and she spoke on the Sunday about "EHUD, the Left-Handed man" (Judges 3:12...30) at a Women's Retreat. It may sound funny, but God moved! She dug some new grounds spiritually in the Body; prophetic declarations were released ove the church body in all areas. Rev. Binda's call to Missions were again confirmed! Two months later both the Lankfords and the Bindas to the first container of relief goods to Guyana. It was a difficult season for Stoy and Katherine Lankford; their son Woody was going through chemotherapy at the time. But they continued to serve faithfully in the Kingdom of God
