Forty-four (44) years ago, on August 25, 1976, Bishop Walker gave his life to the Lord, after a near death and life altering incident.
For those familiar with Bishop Walker’s ministry and leadership, they will know that he has served in numerous leadership positions within the Church of God. In August 2014 Bishop Walker was appointed by the International Executive of the Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee, to serve as Administrative Bishop for Church of God in Ontario - a multi-national faith-based Not-for-Profit Corporation that serves a network of 80 churches, with congregational population of close to 10,000, across Eastern Canada. Upon his appointment, Bishop Walker relinquished his role as Coordinator of the Church of God in Ontario’s Ministerial Internship Program (MIP) – a position he held for twelve (12) years
Bishop Walker currently serves on the World Missions Board of Church of God Cleveland, Tennessee, the National Board of Church of God in Canada, the Regional Executive Council for Church of God in Ontario and the Bethel Bible College Board in Jamaica.
A former pastor with the West Prospect and Old Harbour Church of God in Jamaica, after immigrating to Canada, Bishop Walker served for seven years as Assistant Superintendent for Redemption International Faith Ministries and two years as Pastor of East Toronto Church of God in Scarborough Ontario. He was later transferred to the former Erin Mills Holiness Church (now Praise Cathedral Worship Centre), where he has been serving for the past twenty-five years as the Presiding Bishop. Through his vision and leadership, Praise Cathedral Worship Centre has grown to become one of, if not the largest Church of God congregation in Canada.
A radical and unconventional Minister, Bishop Walker has traveled extensively preaching the Word of God and is known in both local and international circles for delivering dynamic, life changing and inspirational sermons. He continues to positively impact the lives of others, serving on the mission fields in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, South America, the Caribbean and various parts of the United States and Canada to the Glory and honor of Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
The Founder and President of New Haven Funeral Centre, which is the first black-owned funeral Centre that offers Christian faith services and is a uniquely designed contemporary boutique styled Funeral Centre located in the Peel Region on Derry Road at Highway 26, near the airport. Bishop Walker’s mission is focused on caring for the deceased, ensuring they are laid to rest with dignity, while protecting the well-being and faith of those left behind. Bishop Walker is also the President of Hearts in Bloom Academy, a fully operational Gold Star Standard Daycare located in Mississauga on the Praise Cathedral Worship Centre campus.
Every year, Bishop Walker sponsors students at Bethel College, Northern Caribbean University and the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. For the past four (4) consecutive years, he has given fifty-five (55) full time scholarships to students in the Cameroon and has sponsored students in Indonesia for a mission trip to Singapore. He has been instrumental in helping to build a medical clinic in Uganda which is up and functioning.
For his philanthropic efforts and visionary leadership, Bishop Walker was recognized and featured in the “150 Extraordinary Canadians – Our Leadership and Innovation Legacy Book,” which is now available on Amazon.com. Bishop Walker also received the Excellence Award for Leadership presented by the Afro-global Television in October 2018 and graced the cover of Destiny Magazine in 2017. In 2013, Bishop Walker was the proud recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Government of Ontario. His life-time goal is to impact this generation, leaving a legacy for the next generation and years to come.
Last and certainly the most important to Bishop Walker – His family. This year, he will celebrate thirty-seven (37) years of marriage to his sweetheart and best friend, Dorett. They are proud parents of two (2) daughters and three (3) sons and are extremely proud grandparents to Elijah and Amarie.
