In 1999 Laurel graduated from the Wholelife Ministries Bible School in Kingston Jamaica and completed her practical ministry working with marginalized youths and seniors, as well as drug addicts in Spanish Town St. Catherine.   Immigrating to Canada in 2001, Laurel continues to serve in Ministry with  the Church of God in various ministry capacities: as Sunday school Teacher at Grace Fellowship Church of God and Guest Services Coordinator at Fellowship of Love Community Church. She currently attends Destiny Gospel Centre and is serving behind the scenes in various capacities.

A member of the Regional Executive Staff, Laurel started to work in ministry full-time, serving with the Administrative Bishop and Chief Executive Officer, as an Officer of the Corporation since 2012 when she joined as Secretary-Treasurer for the Region.  After obtaining her Project Management Professional (PMP) in 2018, with Regional Council approval, her title was changed to Director of Administration and Strategic Projects. She continues to carry out the responsibilities of the Secretary-Treasurer. 

Laurel is the primary administrator for corporate governance activities of the regional council and all related matters. She utilizes her advanced knowledge of project management, business administration and corporate governance principles and procedures to support the Administrative Bishop and CEO and Regional Council achieve strategic objectives.  Laurel is the  documentation and communications specialist, acting on behalf of the Administrative Bishop and CEO to improve, enhance and increase member support and engagement. She was instrumental in starting THE VOICE - the official Newsletter for Church of God in Ontario.  As Treasurer, Laurel supports the Administrative Bishop/CEO and Regional Council in managing the financial affairs of the organization,  include, working with external auditors and financial experts to complete the annual audit for presentation at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Ministers.  She manages strategic projects include the planning and execution of  AGM of Ministers, various Leadership Symposiums, as well as support the Convention Committee in planning the Annual Regional Convention.  Laurel is also the  Plan Administrator for the Group Benefit  Insurance  and the Pension Plans.

Laurel holds a  Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Management) from University of Technology, Jamaica, Bachelor’s Degree in Health Service Management from Ryerson University, and a Masters Certificate in Project Management from Centennial College. A Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt holder, Laurel is also trained in Executive Leadership, Board Governance and Occupational Health and Safety.

Currently, a member of the  Project Management Institute's (PMI) Durham Highlands Chapter, Laurel acted in the last year, as Director Membership, and will be transitioning to the role of Director, Governance for 2020-2021 Board year.  Laurel previously served as Portfolio Manager with PMI-Lakeshore Chapter, member of the Cadarackque Public School Community Council and Board Member of Woodgreen Family Shelter. Laurel is the proud mother of an 18 year old son, Matthew, who recently graduated from Ajax High School, and is currently volunteering as Director of Student Engagement with Urban Minds, a local Not-for-Profit organization specializing in Urban Planning. In the coming year, Matthew is focused on matriculating to become an Urban Planner.
